FAVORITE ABA MEMORY:
Only four of us showed up this one day: Gardner, Short Arm, the Doctor and myself. Looking for a game, these 4 junior high kids came over and asked for a game of 4-4. I joined 3 of the mites on their squad, where as Short Arm, Doctor and Gardner took the other half-pint. I remember Gardner saying something about "taking it easy" on these little kids. Well, this wound up being a clinic, as Doctor, Short Arm and Gardner repeatedly had the ball stripped, stolen or swatted by these hyperactive dwarves. I was fortunate enough to be on their team, but felt their wrath as well, as many bullet no-look passes thumped me on my chest. I distinctly remember Gardner grabbing a rebound, putting the ball on the court, only to see one of the kids steal the ball and lay it up in a flash. "That one hurt!" Gardner proclaimed. A lesson learned by all... youth and exuberance is sometimes better than wisdom and experience.
